Music and Arts
The vision and purpose of the Music & Arts Ministry is one that encompasses four vital areas of ministry: Worship, praise, equipping, and outreach. It is our desire to touch the Lord's heart with our worship; offer our best - our highest praise; learn of Him so we can be more effectively utilized as the Levites in the Body of Christ; while always aware of the lost and dying all around us who need a Savior.
Worship - God desires true worshipers. Not those who simply go through empty ritualistic motions or meaningless ceremonies; but those who worship Him with sincere hearts and genuine integrity because they have encountered the truth of a Living God and a personal revelation of His grace and mercy. As we worship Him in Spirit and truth, we touch God's heart and He touches ours; plus, we make the world "hungry" and "thirsty" for a personal relationship with Him. We truly become salt and light to a dying world. The Bible tells us that God is looking for only two kinds of people:
Luke 19:10 NKJV " ... for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost," and John 4:23 NKJV " ... the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him."
The reason we are here, the reason mankind was created, and the reason we have been redeemed, is that we might become true worshipers of the Most High God and give glory and honor to Him!
Praise - We serve a magnificent God who deserves our most excellent praise. Though we do not seek to perform, we desire to offer unto Him our highest and most skillful performance. King David instructed the Levites who ministered before the Lord day and night (both vocally and instrumentally) to be highly skilled. This means that we work hard to perfect our talents and abilities - to sharpen our skills because He deserves our best! There is no room for a "performance spirit" or for egotistical prima donnas. We cater and minister to the Lord - He is our audience! May we ever strive to be Spirit-filled and Spirit-skilled!
Equipping - This is an area in the Church of Jesus Christ today where there is a great need, especially in music ministries. Though we have been taught the great truths from the Bible pertaining to salvation and the Christian life, so few understand the role of the musician in the church - the Levite - and why we have been called to minister to the Lord through music. Our desire is to produce leaders who can minister musically, who know how to intercede effectively, and who understand the call of musicians today who are under the covering of the local church, who will be used to change the spiritual complexion of their world through praise and worship. This will only happen as the singers and musicians are trained in the Word and begin to fully understand their position of spiritual authority in the Body of Christ.
Outreach - Music and the dramatic arts are dynamic tools for evangelism. Many people who are completely closed to the preached or written Word of God are open to this medium. Thus, we have an inroad to win them for Christ! Our productions at Capstone Church are designed for this type of community outreach. Our vision and desire is to see literally hundreds of souls won for the kingdom of God every time we present a musical production! Through the arts we lift up the Name of Jesus - not any other personality or organization. He said, "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto Me" (John 12:32).
