History
Capstone Church had its beginnings in 1990 as Church on the Rock, then University Park Church at a Holiday Inn in Fort Worth, TX. After much prayer, Jeff Wickwire felt impressed to start a new work with a burden to raise up Christians into their God-given calling, and to reach unchurched and non-Christians with the gospel. UPC first began to meet on week-nights, but the meeting soon grew to over 100 people who began to request Sunday morning services. On the first Sunday over 400 people flooded the hotel ballroom.
UPC eventually purchased a well-known, vacated restaurant that has since been renovated into a beautiful, 900 seat sanctuary and church facility. Now meeting in two weekly services - 10 AM Sunday and 7 PM on Wednesdays, Capstone has seen the Lord's vision come to pass. Scores of unchurched and non-Christian individuals have found Christ as their Savior. And many Christians have been helped to discover their God-given gifts, callings and purpose.
